About Us
Introducing Barloch Industries
Barloch Industries Pty Ltd is a self-funded independent Australian company that has been specifically developed to target the ever growing water shortage and bushfire threat we are suffering on both a national and international level. Many parts of the world are in the grip of a debilitating drought with the fire risk never so high. In Australia we have severe water restrictions in place around the country and suffer each year from unforgiving bushfires across the land.
Recently we have seen a spate of water saving products and services enter the market. We see the impact we are enduring everyday on our television sets, in the paper, on the radio, we talk about it with family and friends and, at a time when water is on everyone’s lips, the release of the Barloch brand has come at an opportune time.
It has been a slow and tedious process, but one that has provided us with an enormous sense of pride and passion. Water is our most precious commodity…without it, we simply die! We need to harness the otherwise ‘lost’ water and utilise it in the most productive and affordable way possible...this is our quest.
We welcome enquiries , cooperative agreements, appropriate endorsements and or support in creating public awareness in assisting to alleviate the impact that this force of nature has delivered us.
At a time when water is on everyone’s lips, if you would like to be part of the solution contact us by email at

Facts...
- In the wake of the recent Black Saturday bushfires in Victoria and the Santa Barbara wildfires, there are stories coming out where home-made makeshift sprinkler systems were rigged up and, it would appear, that more than just luck but forward planning managed to save these homes whilst their neighbour’s homes were destroyed.
- February 2009 brought Victoria, Australia to her knees bearing witness to more bushfire horror, with tragic loss of lives confirmed at 173. More than 700 homes were destroyed; 330,000 hectares burnt out.
- The Canberra bushfires of 2003 caused severe damage to the outskirts of Canberra and, after burning for a week, the fires entered the suburbs, 4 people died and more than 500 homes were destroyed or severely damaged and most of these homes were on town water.
- 2008 saw Barcelona ship nearly 23 million litres of drinking water – enough for 180,000 people for a day – the first delivery in an unprecedented emergency plan to help this parched corner of Spain. The country is suffering its worst drought since records began 60 years ago, Catalonia, of which Barcelona is the capital, has been the worst hit region.
- The droughts in Cyprus have forced government officials there to ship in water from Greece to help ease the crisis.
- July 2008 saw a slew of wildfires across California, most ignited by lightning that burned more than 800 square miles of land, the blazes destroyed at least 67 homes and other buildings.
Rod Barratt - Inventor / Managing Director
Rod has created a company of his own ideas…for him, thinking outside the square is mandatory. Rod states, "for every problem there is a solution close by."
The BushFire Loch® and the DownPipe Loch® have proved to be enormously satisfying for Rod, although he gains equal excitement from working on several other water saving products and projects currently in various stages of development.
His creative attention to detail and ingenuity has led to the production of these unique Aussie products which not only suit the national market but they have an international audience as well, particularly in areas with similar extreme environmental issues as Australia.
Together with his sister, Suzanne Stahl, they have been moonlighting for several years and through sheer dedication and perseverance have managed to gather support from Australian celebrity Col Elliott to assist in achieving the outcome they desire.
In Rod’s own words… ‘Water is a serious topic; we can’t sustain life without it.’
Suzanne Stahl - International Business Manager
Suzanne’s strength and specialty has focused on Business Management, Administration, Budget Control, Marketing, Advertising, Production Management, Employment and Finance.
Launching her career 1976 in the entertainment industry, she partnered with Bernie Stahl (who was later to become her husband), their company was to become one of the most diversified and largest entertainment booking agencies, management and touring companies in Victoria. In 1977 the management division signed Col Elliott, an association which was to become a unique business partnership and one which still continues to this day. Together they have created and marketed many products from television and video production, music video clips, to a broad range of merchandise presently available on the market.
This experience laid the grounds to pursue a full-time career in Production Management providing corporate video training services and television commercials for a range of clients. It was during this time, in 2001, that her brother Rod Barratt, approached her with an ‘idea’…this was the birth of Barloch Industries.
With a ‘can do’ attitude, extensive organizational and marketing skills, Suzanne is able to draw from her vast experience and adapt to her environment with ease.
She is the driving force behind Barloch Industries.
